Temperature Monitoring and Customizing Vanemar App Temperature Warnings via NMEA 2000

Learn how to view and customize new temperature data types from your NMEA 2000 network in the Vanemar App.

Updated this week

Overview

With the Vanemar App v1.4.2, you can now monitor a wider range of temperature data from your NMEA 2000 network. From safety-critical engine room readings to comfort-related cabin conditions, all temperature sources are displayed in one place, giving you complete visibility.

⚠️ Warning: Temperature display and alerts via NMEA 2000 are only available if your boat is equipped with the Vanemar NMEA 2000 Boat Adapter.

Supported Temperature Types

You can now view and set thresholds for:

  • Interior / Cabin temperature

  • Engine room

  • Main cabin

  • Livewell (live bait tank)

  • Bait tank

  • Cooling system

  • Heating system

  • Freezer

  • Exhaust gas

  • Shaft seal

Examples of Temperature Alerts:

  1. Freezer: Set for above 0°C to know befıre your food starts to spoil, leading to waste and potential health risks.

  2. Engine room: If temperature climbs beyond your safety threshold to avoid risk of overheating, which can damage engines, reduce efficiency, or even trigger fire hazards.

  3. Cabin temperature: Set if temperature drops below 10°C, helping protect crew comfort in colder conditions.

  4. Exhaust gas sensor: Set a high-temperature alert to detect early signs of overheating and prevent damage.

Setting Temperature Alerts

  1. Open the Vanemar App.

  2. Select the desired temperature sensor.

  3. Tap Warning Levels.

  4. Set custom high and low limits according to your preference.

  5. Save settings.

  6. You will now receive alerts if values exceed your limits.

💡 Tip: For better safety, set different thresholds for comfort areas (like cabins) and critical systems (like exhaust gas or shaft seals) to ensure you receive the right alerts at the right time.
