How to start the firmware update

When a firmware update is available, the Vanemar App automatically checks for it and suggests it when you open the app and go to your boat's main screen.

A firmware update modal appears on the boat main screen, where you can review the available version and start the update.

Before starting the update

When you tap the `Update` button, the app shows a `Before starting the update` screen with important notices that should be reviewed before the firmware update begins.

This screen explains the following:

  • The device must be in `Onboard` mode before and during the update.

  • Do not reset the device during the update.

  • The device must be connected to battery power during the update.

  • The update process may take about 3-5 minutes to complete.

  • You do not need to keep the application open during this time.

After reviewing these notices, tap `Start Update` to begin the firmware update process.

What happens during the update

After you tap `Start Update`, the firmware update begins and the app shows an `Updating the Firmware` modal.

During the update:

  • The update continues even if you close the modal.

  • The update also continues if you leave the app.

  • The boat main screen shows an update status indicator at the bottom of the screen.

This means you do not need to keep the modal or the app open while the firmware update is in progress.
