How Shore Power Lost Alerts Work and How to Enable Them

Learn how Shore Power Lost alerts work with Vanemar Smart Plugs, when notifications are sent, and how to enable this feature in the Vanemar App.

Updated today

Vanemar Smart Plugs can help you detect a loss of shore power and notify you when the plug becomes unreachable.

This feature works with the Vanemar Smart Plug, which can also be used to remotely control connected devices.

Important Notice: Remote notifications require an internet connection, so this feature requires an active Vanemar Connect™ subscription. For this feature to work correctly, the Smart Plug must be connected to an outlet that has power only when shore power is available.

How shore power lost alerts work

If the outlet powering the Smart Plug loses power, the Smart Plug disconnects from the Vanemar system. When `Notify When Device Goes Offline` is enabled, Vanemar can notify you when the plug becomes unreachable.

This is how Shore Power Lost alerts work in practice. If the plug is connected to an outlet that loses power when shore power is disconnected, the plug goes offline and the system can send a notification.

For this feature to work correctly, the Smart Plug must be connected to an outlet that has power only when shore power is available. If the outlet continues working from another onboard power source, the Smart Plug may stay online and no shore power lost alert will be triggered.

In addition to the offline alert, you may also receive a notification when the Smart Plug reconnects and comes back online.

How to enable shore power lost alerts

You can enable this feature from the Smart Plug details screen in the Vanemar App.

To enable Shore Power Lost alerts:

  1. Open your boat in the Vanemar App.

  2. Find the Smart Plug card on the boat screen.

  3. Press and hold the Smart Plug card to open the details screen.

  4. Turn on the `Notify When Device Goes Offline` switch.

Once this setting is enabled, Vanemar can notify you when the Smart Plug loses connection and becomes unreachable.

Notices

  • This feature requires an internet connection and an active Vanemar Connect™ subscription in order to deliver notifications.

  • The Smart Plug must be connected to an outlet that has power only when shore power is available. If the outlet is still powered by another onboard source, no Shore Power Lost alert may be triggered.

  • This feature is based on Smart Plug connectivity loss, not direct AC shore power measurement.
