Connecting Your Vanemar Gateway to Power

Step-by-step guide to safely prepare your boat and connect your Vanemar Gateway to a power source.

Safety and Preparation

Before connecting your Vanemar Gateway to power, follow these safety precautions to ensure a safe and proper installation.

Securing the Boat

Before beginning the installation, make sure your boat is stationary and securely moored to provide a stable and safe working environment.

Electrical Safety

Before making any electrical connections, turn off the engines, battery chargers, and inverters, and disconnect the boat from shore power.

Isolate the installation circuit from its power source and verify that it is de-energized before proceeding.

Work Environment

Ensure the installation area is well-ventilated, clean, and free of clutter to maintain a safe working environment.

Weather Considerations

Avoid performing electrical installations in adverse weather conditions, particularly during rain or storms, to reduce the risk of electrical hazards.

Seek Professional Help if Needed

If you are not familiar with marine electrical systems, seek assistance from a qualified marine electrician. Incorrect electrical connections can create serious safety hazards.

  1. Use a Compatible Power Source

Connect your Gateway to a suitable 12 V or 24 V DC power source.

  2. Connect the Power Cables

Connect the red cable to the positive (+) terminal and the black cable to the negative (−) terminal of the power source.

  3. Check the Electrical Connections

Ensure all electrical connections are secure and properly insulated. Never allow the positive and negative conductors to come into contact, as this may cause a short circuit.

  4. Verify the Installation

Before restoring power, double-check all connections to ensure the cables are properly connected, securely fastened, and free from damage.

Ensure the power circuit has appropriate overcurrent protection in accordance with the Gateway's electrical requirements and applicable marine electrical standards.

Warning: Only use the power cable supplied with your Vanemar Gateway. Using a different power cable may be unsafe and could damage the device.
