Troubleshooting

Learn how to resolve common power, connectivity, pairing, and GPS issues with your Vanemar Gateway.

Gateway Won't Turn On

If your Gateway doesn't turn on, its internal backup battery may be depleted or the external power connection may be interrupted.

  1. Connect your Gateway to a 12V or 24V DC power source.

  2. Check that the power cable is securely connected and the polarity is correct.

  3. Try turning on your Gateway using the Power/Reset button.

If the Gateway still doesn't turn on, contact Vanemar Support.

LED Stuck on Purple Light

A solid purple LED indicates that your Gateway is updating its firmware. This process typically takes up to 10 minutes.

If the LED remains purple for longer than expected, contact Vanemar Support for assistance.

Warning: Do not restart or disconnect your Gateway from power during a firmware update unless instructed by Vanemar Support.

Can't Pair Your Gateway

A flashing green LED indicates that your Gateway is ready to pair.

  1. Check that the LED is flashing green.

  2. Open the Vanemar App and follow the instructions to pair your Gateway with your boat.

  3. Make sure your phone has an active internet connection.

If the LED is not flashing green, check its current status before attempting to restart or reset your Gateway.

For detailed instructions, see Using the Power/Reset Button on Vanemar Gateway.

If pairing still fails, contact Vanemar Support.

GPS Error

If your Gateway is experiencing GPS issues, check the antenna connection and placement.

  1. Make sure the GPS antenna is securely connected to your Gateway.

  2. Position the antenna where it has a clear view of the sky, away from metal structures or other obstructions.

  3. Check the antenna and cable for visible damage.

If the issue persists, contact Vanemar Support.

Gateway Appears Offline

If your Gateway appears offline in the Vanemar App, follow these steps:

  1. Check the power connection. Make sure your Gateway is powered on and its LED is active.

  2. Check cellular coverage. Ensure your boat is in an area with sufficient cellular signal. Avoid placing the Gateway inside enclosed metal compartments.

  3. Check your subscription. Make sure your Vanemar Connect™ subscription is active.

  4. Allow time for activation. If you've recently activated your subscription, SIM card activation may take up to 20 minutes.

If your Gateway remains offline after these checks, contact Vanemar Support.

Backup Battery Fault Warning

If your Gateway's internal backup battery has been completely depleted, it may need time to recharge.

Keep your Gateway connected to a stable power source. If the warning remains active after 24–48 hours, contact Vanemar Support.
