Vanemar Gateway primarily connects through a built-in GSM SIM card to ensure continuous connectivity. To stay connected outside of GSM coverage, you can set up a backup Wi-Fi connection.
Follow these easy steps to set up your Backup Wi-Fi Connection:
Step 1: Navigate to Backup Wi-Fi Connection Settings
Tap the Menu button (☰) located at the top-right corner of the home screen.
Select your boat from the displayed list.
Tap Security Settings.
Step 2: Start Backup Wi-Fi Setup
Tap on Backup Wi-Fi Connection.
Review the provided information:
It’s recommended to use an internet connection with wide coverage, such as satellite internet (e.g., Starlink).
Only 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks are supported.
Wi-Fi information is stored securely on the device and not shared with third parties.
You must be near your Vanemar Gateway to complete this setup via Bluetooth.
Press Continue to proceed.
Step 3: Choose Wi-Fi Network and Enter Password
Select your desired Wi-Fi network from the available list.
Enter the password for your chosen Wi-Fi network.
Tap Save.
Step 4: Confirmation
You will see a confirmation message indicating your backup Wi-Fi connection has been successfully saved.
Your Backup Wi-Fi Connection is now set! The Vanemar Gateway will automatically switch to this backup connection whenever GSM coverage is unavailable or insufficient.
Important Note: You still need an active Vanemar Connect subscription for remote access to the Vanemar Gateway, even if a backup Wi-Fi connection is set.
Requirements: This feature is available on the 2nd generation Vanemar Gateway and requires the Vanemar app version 1.3.5 or later on iOS and 1.3.8 or later on Android.
