How to Temporarily Silence Alerts for Sensors

Learn how to temporarily silence alarms, warnings, and disconnected notifications for a Vanemar sensor and re-enable alerts when you are ready.

The `Silence Alerts` feature temporarily stops all alarms, warnings, and disconnected notifications received from a selected sensor in the Vanemar system. This lets you prevent repeated or unwanted system alerts while you are carrying out planned work or managing a situation on board.

You can use this feature in situations such as:

  • Carrying out planned work that could trigger a false alarm, such as working in the engine room where smoke may be present, or cleaning the bilge where the water sensor may come into contact with water.

  • Managing a real alarm or warning after the situation has been brought under control and you need time to complete follow-up checks.

  • Servicing a sensor, replacing its battery, or temporarily taking it offline when you do not want to receive disconnected notifications.

Important Notice: Silencing alerts in the Vanemar system does not disable the built-in buzzer or sounder of sensors that have their own audible alarm, such as water or smoke sensors. The sensor's local buzzer may still sound even when its system alerts are silenced.

Notice: This feature requires Vanemar Gateway firmware version `2.8.2` or later.
