Overview
Regular testing is the best way to ensure your Vanemar Smoke Sensor is working properly. A quick test confirms that the siren, LED indicator, and communication with the Vanemar App are all functioning as expected. We recommend testing once a month and after any battery replacement.
Testing Steps
Locate the Test Button
The button is on the front of the Smoke Sensor.
Press and Hold the Test Button
Press firmly for a few seconds.
Observe the Response
The sensor should:
Emit a loud “Di-Di-Di” siren.
Flash the red LED rapidly.
Check the Vanemar App
You should receive a test alert notification confirming the sensor is reporting correctly.
Tips & Recommendations
Test Monthly: Make testing part of your regular boat maintenance routine.

If No Response:
Check if the battery is correctly installed.
Replace the battery if needed.
Ensure the device is within range of the Vanemar Gateway.
Don’t Use Open Flame for Testing: Only use the test button. Using fire or smoke can damage the sensor and reduce its reliability.
App Notifications: If the siren works but no notification arrives in the app, check the sensor’s connection status in the Vanemar App.
When to Replace the Vanemar Smoke Sensor
If the Smoke Sensor fails to respond to testing even after replacing the battery and checking placement, it may be faulty. We recommend replacing it immediately to ensure continued protection.
⚠️ Warning: If your Smoke Sensor has been exposed to smoke during a real fire event, replace the device. Heat and smoke can compromise its performance.
